Link "The Sink" Parry

When I was about 11 years old my sister Eliza did something crazy, she brought home a cat without the permission from our parents. I talked to her last night about it and we both thought it was really weird that our parents allowed this
to happen. Anyway, the cat was a long-haired orange tabby named Elvis.

I don't remember a lot about the cat but I do remember that we had it for several years before it started to, as my mom puts it, "go cookoo." Elvis was an outdoor cat, he would run into random people's homes and attack their grandmas. I remember really liking him.

I don't remember at what point Elvis went cookoo, but it was a long time ago. My parents decided it was time to say bye bye to Elvis and they took him away. I don't even know where they took him, but hopefully he is in kitty heaven right now.

Now, some of you might be wondering why I am sharing memories of a dead cat. Some of you already know...

A week ago today Laura and I adopted a 7 month old cat from the local shelter. Because of the fond memories that I have of Elvis, I wanted to get an orange haired tabby. Laura didn't share the same fondness for that type of cat but after some lobbying, I finally convinced her that we should get the one that I wanted. We named him Link "The Sink" after the character in prison break named Lincoln Burrows, whose prison name was Link "The Sink." We figured that because we broke him out of cat prison (the shelter) it was appropriate.

We really like Link. He is one of the most cuddly kitties that I have ever known. He really likes to push his little head against our cheeks and for some odd reason he has a weird obsession with feet.

He went in to get neutered this past Monday and has been in recovery mode ever since we brought him home. We think that he has come down with an upper respiratory infection
(a cold in cat terms), he hasn't been eating very much and doesn't seem to like keeping his food in his tummy. Hopefully he will get better soon.

This last picture is a nice glamour shot taken by Laura:

  1. Thanks for immortalizing Elvis. I don't remember him attacking grandmas, but I do remember him going in doggy doors and attacking people's birds. I'm glad you got a pet. I'm excited to meet The Sink.

  3. What is happening with Eliza's hair in that first picture (and pants in the second)?

I don't approve of your decision but I will support you in raising your cat since he could become my kids' pet someday (don't worry- we're not going to die).

Since you named him after Lincoln, maybe you could get him some kitty shirts and leave the top 5 buttons open.
